Last week Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic)awarded certificates to a group of 103 graduate trainees after the successful completion of 18-month-long training programme. The ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Sohar. Moign Khawaja, Web Editor TimesofOman.com, caught up with four promising graduates and got their interesting profiles:
Basma Al Qasimi – 24 – Megatronics EngineerI was born in the coastal city of Sohar. Since childhood I was interested in physics, chemistry and mathematics. The interest got so deep that I decided to study engineering and make a career in this field.
After completing my secondary education, I got enrolled at Shinas College of Technology to study engineering and graduated as a mechanical engineer.
After several years at the college and passing with a distinction, I decided to take up the training programme at Orpic.The experience was extremely helpful as we were given the opportunity to understand our duties which spanned from classroom lectures to training in laboratories and sites. A lot of understanding was involved in the engineering processes and businesses.
Thanks to the comprehensive training at Orpic, we see a very 'organized' future.I thank Allah for helping me achieve this...
