Muna Al Balushi works in Oman United Insurance Company as an Assistant General Manager. She has 2 daughters; elder one aged 3 and half years and younger one aged one year. She has been associated with the company since the last 15 years.

In an exclusive interview with Times of Oman, Muna recalled her childhood as very peaceful and productive. She had lots of friends in school as well as neighbourhood and got to take part in a lot of activities. "My family members always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I am very lucky that I always had a strong support from my family and got a very understanding husband," she explained while adding that without this tremendous support nothing would have been possible to achieve.

After completing basic education, Muna wanted to work. She managed to bag a work opportunity but soon realized that she has to study more in order to be a better professional. So, she concentrated in garnering more knowledge and completed her Diploma in Business Administration.

Later she completed her Master of Sciences (MSC) in Insurance Risk Management and bagged a scholarship from British Council to study Advanced Diploma offered by Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK. Muna travelled to Britain while she was pregnant with her first baby. "I am so proud to be a mother of splendid daughters. I took the challenge at that time to go for higher studies abroad which helped me excel at my workplace."

About her work experiences, Muna Al Balushi told Times of Oman that she really enjoys working for Oman United Insurance Company. "Working for this company is great. I have good colleagues which include both cooperative superiors and hard working subordinates. Working here has been a splendid experience. Insurance is a vast field and I got to learn many aspects of it while working here."

Message to the Omani society as a woman and mother:
"If a woman wants to do something in her life, wants to achieve something, she will definitely acquire it. She has to be ambitious to become something in her life. Today's women are confident and regardless of the family pressure, hindrances or kids, they can definitely achieve glory by balancing both their professional and personal lives."

"Being a mother of young kids is a huge responsibility. They need your attention at all times. As a working woman, sometimes it becomes a challenge to balance office and home. It is possible that kids feel neglected when I am working for longer hours on a given day but thankfully in my case my mother is there for me who takes care of the kids while I am away. She is the greatest resource I'll ever have in my life."

While commenting on choices of pursuing a career, Muna had the following to say: "Some mothers do force their children to follow a line which they wanted for themselves. But I believe that my children should choose on their own of what they are good at and what they would want to do with their lives. I don't want to enforce my decisions on them. I was never forced to do anything in my life. I was lucky to have very understanding parents. So, I will be the very same to my kids."
