Muscat: Maserati Ghibli, the first ever luxury sports executive sedan created by Italian luxury automotive brand Maserati, marked its debut in Oman at a grand event organised by Alfardan Motors, the official importer of Maserati in the Sultanate. The exclusive launch was inaugurated by Omar Al Fardan, president of the Alfardan Group of Companies, and was attended by VIP guests and customers, says a press release.
With the launch of the Ghibli, Maserati marks its entrance into the E-segment backed by strong product knowledge and ambitious sales goals. While upholding the tradition, luxury and performance that have marked the brand for a century, the Ghibli opens up the brand to new buyers by being priced more accessibly. It reflects the company's belief that a growing number of luxury sports sedan buyers are looking to make an individual statement by setting themselves apart through a car that is distinctive, elegant and luxurious.
Among its competitor set, the Ghibli promises to stand out as the only model that can truly provide a high level of individuality and exclusivity without compromising on performance, comfort and style. The Ghibli will play a significant role in Maserati's growth plan to produce 50,000 units annually by the year 2015.
Manufactured to latest benchmark quality standards in Maserati's new state-of-the-art production facilities in Grugliasco close to Turin, the Ghibli consists of two versions in the petrol range; Ghibli and Ghibli S. These boast of two exciting new-generation twin turbo-charged 3.0-litre V6 engines (330 & 410 hp) and 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The engines are manufactured by Ferrari in Maranello for exclusive use of Maserati. With its power output of 410 hp the Ghibli S races to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 285 km/h. The Ghibli delivers 330 hp, a top speed of 263 km/h and acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
Dynamic and precise handling is guaranteed by the car's perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution while the sophisticated suspension system and limited slip differential make every ride enjoyable. Advanced suspension, Brembo brakes and a high tech body made of aluminum and magnesium ensure an ease of performance and comfort. Other features include 18 to 21 inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and rear lights and rear-view parking camera.
The Ghibli enters the E-segment of the sports premium market with a tangible advantage in cabin craftsmanship and detailing. Within its striking aerodynamic silhouette, the cabin offers rich Italian leathers, woods and other high quality materials that are at the heart of the Maserati brand. The Ghibli's interior is built around a driver interface that is intuitive, uncluttered and simple to use. It sets itself apart with a unique, cockpit-inspired dashboard design that perfectly matches its sporty and youthful character without compromising on the highest level of refinement and sophistication. Key elements such as the central 8.4" Maserati Touch Control and the fine Poltrona Frau leather finish underline the cabin's timeless sporting character.
