Muscat: A high-level Omani food and beverage business delegation led by Ithraa recently participated at the 19th Food and Hotel Asia (FHA) Exhibition held in Singapore.
"With more than 3,000 participants representing 64 countries, and covering 97,000 square metres of exhibition space, FHA attracted over 45,000 visitors this year and is considered by many to be one of the world's largest food and beverage trade shows. Indeed, we were delighted to lead Oman's presence at this prestigious event," said Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa's Director General of Export Development.
On the sidelines of FHA, Ithraa's Director of Service Investment, Sulaiman Al Harasi, along with 22 Omani companies held a series of inward investment business to business meetings at the Singapore Business Federation with firms working in logistics, marine and ship repairs, food processing and manufacturing.
"Ten Omani companies participating in the business to business sessions signed deals while in Singapore. The mission was a triumph. We were thrilled with the outcome," said Al Harasi.
With Omani FHA exhibitors securing export orders worth OMR50,000 and forging ties with Singapore distributors, feedback from the show has been highly positive.
Bernard Durin, Managing Director of Al Marsa Fisheries said; "We want to increase our international presence so specialised trade shows like FHA offer us an excellent opportunity to present our product and meet potential buyers. Exhibiting with other Omani food and beverage companies on the Sultanate's pavilion helped all of us deliver a stronger marketing punch."
Mohammed Ameen of Sea Pride LLC considers FHA an important trade show that attracts key buyers. "It's at events like this that we meet food and beverage industry personnel from across Asia. It's crucial to get out and introduce your product to key markets. Given the growth in the region's food and beverage market there's business to be had."
Bright Sun Dates Production's Managing Director, Hilal Al Kindy already exports to India, Malaysia and Indonesia but is looking to further penetrate the Asian market. "In addition to our FHA stand we also took the opportunity to go on business site visits in Singapore and meet potential buyers. This was our first time at FHA and it was well worth the time, money and effort spent."
"Strengthening economic ties was key to the Singapore trade mission. And by exhibiting at FHA we were able to showcase Oman's food and beverage sector and help local companies take advantage of Asia's growing grocery market," remarked Al Harasi.
