The new master plan includes a new all-weather sports pitch, a performing arts complex, additional specialised classrooms, science laboratories and an aquatic centre which will enable the British School Muscat to offer an even better experience for pupils.

Muscat: An all-weather new sports pitch and additional specialised classrooms – students of British School Muscat (BSM) are set to enjoy all these features and even more as the school prepares to formulate a new master plan for itself.

Talking about the plans for school, Warwick Hardy, Bursar, BSM, said, "Some of the areas being considered in the new master plan include a new all-weather sports pitch, a performing arts complex, additional specialised classrooms, science laboratories and an aquatic centre. The developments will enable the school to offer an even better experience for our pupils centred around the idea of providing the highest quality British education for an international future."

Jestico + Whiles - an architectural firm and interior design practice based in London - have won an international design competition to master plan the campus of the British School Muscat.

A key step
Kai Vacher, BSM Principal, said, "I am delighted that we are working with such a highly regarded team of architects with such a strong international reputation.

Working with the team at Jestico + Whiles to create an inspiring and exciting master plan is a key step in realising our vision for British School Muscat to become one of the leading British international schools in the world."

The plan is to consider the long-term development of the school's prime site in the Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos area in the heart of Muscat. A Jestico + Whiles team has begun an intensive programme of engaging with all stakeholders to understand the ambitions of the wide spectrum of the school community.

Ben Marston, associate director, Jestico + Whiles, said: "We are enormously proud to have been selected by the British School Muscat. It is a very exciting time; the site has so much potential. We look forward to working with the school to maximise its use of it."

It is the practice's second project for a leading British school in the region, and represents an increasing international dimension to the practice's education portfolio. British School Muscat, established in 1971, is a co-educational British international day school which provides education to children of over 60 nationalities.
