Muscat: Oman's largest 10-screen and 7-screen VOX Cinemas, owned by Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, are to open at the Muscat City Centre and the Qurum City Centre soon.
To mark this, Vox Cinemas is organising an official press launch at VOX Cinemas, City Centre Muscat on June 2, 2014 where senior officials from Majid Al Futtaim - Cinemas and Majid Al Futtaim - Properties will officially open it.
The website of the new cinema announced a large number of Hollywood and Bollywood movies coming soon to their screens from June 22, 2014.
Some of these are 3D X-Men: Days of Future Past, A Case of You, Naked Soldier, Samrat and Co, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men: Days of Future Past and many others.
It was learnt that VOX Cinemas at Muscat City Centre and at Qurum City Centre will feature the latest in digital cinema technology, including 3D-enabled screens.
"VOX Cinemas will also be the first to introduce the 'mega-screen' concept with VOX MAX, bringing a larger than life movie experience. It will also feature DepthQ® 3D, the world's fastest polarisation technology. DepthQ® 3D utilises newly patented technology to give the brightest, clearest, most immersive 3D experience possible.
"DepthQ® 3D easily meets the demanding image quality standards of all major Hollywood studios and, because of its unprecedented speed, is ready to show the next generation of high frame rate 3D movies being made by James Cameron and Peter Jackson," Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, had earlier told the Times of Oman.
VOX MAX will feature a 20- -metre wide screen with crisp, bright digital images ensuring a stunning, realistic and fully immersive entertainment experience. "The rich and enveloping Dolby Surround 7.1 sound adds impact to all movies. VOX MAX features premium VIP MAX seats offering customers extra comfort and more leg room which makes watching the biggest blockbusters, a great experience," it claims.
All the screens are 100 per cent digitally enabled and VOX Cinemas has invested in the latest digital cinema technology for the movie goers. It will also have exclusive 'VIP' seating which offers larger, more spacious seats, a gourmet-style menu and flexible ticketing options.
Earlier, Majid Al Futtaim Properties had announced major redevelopment of the Muscat City Centre and Qurum City Centre.
With an investment of OMR11.3 million, the project will see a combined total of approximately 80,000 sq ft retail space for the malls.
It was learnt that Muscat City Centre will add around 48,500 sq ft of retail space while Qurum City Centre will expand by around 31,600 sq ft to feature a new Magic Planet family entertainment centre and a 7-screen VOX Cinemas. All works are expected to be completed by 2014.
