Muscat: Goan community in Oman is gearing up for a weekend of music, dance and a lot of fun with May Queen 2014 set to be held on May 23 at Al Murjan Hall of Civil Aviation Club in Seeb from 7pm to 1am.
A pre-event press briefing was held at the Majan Continental Hotel with the Indian Social Club's newly launched Goan Wing's committee members and the reigning May Queen 2013 winner Aurene Fernandes.
"It is going to be an amazing evening of fun, surprises, exciting prizes, lots of dancing and a night for Indian Social Club Goan Wing to bring different communities together and blend all the different cultures," said Ansalmo Goes, Convenor, ISC Goan Wing.
"This dinner cum dance is a traditional event held in the month of May as a summer queen competition, held in many countries. Our aim is to bring our culture from back home in Goa, India to the people of Oman. We anticipate about 700 people to attend this mega event and it is open to all communities and nationalities," said Anthony Lourenco, Cultural secretary of the wing.
A26, the leading band from Goa, is being flown down especially for the occasion. A26 has become a musically empowered act since they started four years ago. They have played in every major city of India and have had a blast bringing the house down at every venue they have performed.
They also did some gigs in Kenya, Denmark, Qatar and UAE. They have earned a reputation for exceptional musicianship, outstanding service and professionalism.
