Muscat: Fatma Al Nabhani, playing her best tennis of the season, stormed into the semifinals of the $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit Tianjin tournament in China with a hard-fought victory over Thai girl Nudina Luangnam on Friday.
According to information received here, the Omani lass, who clinched the second place in the doubles competition, overcame an early resistance from Nudina to post a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 win in their quarterfinal encounter.
In the last four match, Fatma is scheduled to take on Chinese qualifier Lin Zhu.
Fatma had earlier beaten Kazakh fourth seed Kamila Kermbayeva 7-5, 6-4 in the first round before defeating local girl Fang Ying Xun 6-1, 6-2 in the second round.
In doubles, Fatma forged a good partnership with India's Ankita Raina but their run was snapped in the final by third-seeded Chinese pair of Chang Liu and Ran Tian.
Liu and Tian won 6-1, 7-5 forcing the Indo-Oman duo to settle for second place.
