Muscat: In the first quarter of this year, Omani visitors registered 26,137 guest nights in hotels in the UAE, an increase of 45 per cent over the same period in the previous year.
It is expected to grow further as the Abu Dhabi Summer Season is about to begin, said Mubarak Al Shamisi, country manager GCC, Tourism and Culture Authority of Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
He said that Abu Dhabi tourism industry was keen to persuade Omanis to enjoy what the emirate has to offer to the country's family tourists.

He said that in the first quarter of this year, 13,125 Omanis stayed in Abu Dhabi hotels, accounting for 44 per cent increase over the same period last year.
Mubarak Al Shamisi said: "We believed that we can do much better and our aim is to convince the Omani travel trade, and its customers, that there is now so much more to do and see in Abu Dhabi that they should stay lonely and should enjoy more."
Speaking at a road show organised in the city to promote Abu Dhabi Summer Season tourism in Oman, Al Shamisi said that Oman was ranked among Abu Dhabi's top 20 overseas source markets for hotel guests.
There are 60 flights in a week between Muscat International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport which include 21 Etihad Airway's services, he said.
The Abu Dhabi Summer Season, running from June 5 to August 31, will have international theatre, ballet, comedy and other shows including regional film premiers, world cup extravaganzas and locally produced activities in hotels and malls.
These events will have a variety of concerts and performances by artists from all across the world including the Middle East, Russia and the US.
There will also be local sporting events, mall attractions and best summer deals everywhere.
As part of the activities during the season, FLASH Entertainment will stage six events from July 28 to August 29. The du Forum, Yas Island will be transformed into Abu Dhabi's largest Fifa World Cup viewing venue and the hub of Ramadan festivities from June 12.
FLASH will also have family events in Abu Dhabi's western region and its heritage heartland of Al Ain during August.
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition will have a Shadowland show by a dance troupe Pilobolus Dance Theatre. La Verita will feature a cast of 13 acrobats.
Yas Island's hotels and other attractions are planning the coolest summer ever with hot two-for-one deals which will run until September 30.
