Doha/Muscat: Oman has the potential to become another aviation hub in the region if it focuses on air traffic management, NATS' chief executive officer says.
Although Oman is surrounded by several busy hubs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar, "technically, there is no reason why Oman should not be absolutely equal if not better than the neighbours," Richard Deakin told the Times of Oman.
"Oman is in a really key strategic part of the Gulf region," he said.
"There is a real opportunity for Oman to redesign its airspace to attract more aircraft through its airspace, which of course is not only good for revenue but also to help boost the efficiency of the Middle East region. "I'll guarantee that if Oman focuses on the air traffic side, it will certainly have much more efficient network, and I think this is the key to unlocking growth," Deakin concluded.
