The Main Committee of Hilal or Moon Sighting at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, on Wednesday announced that on Saturday, June 28 will be the 30th day of the month of Sha'aban 1435 and Sunday, June 29, will be the first day of Ramadan 1435.
A statement from the Committee said that astronomy confirms the disappearance of Hilal of the Holy Month of Ramadan on the 29th of Sha'aban before sunset in most governorates of the Sultanate and at the same time of sunset in others, so it can't be seen that day. Thus Hilal notifications in such case would not be accepted as they go contrary to reality and science that both deny the sighting of the Hilal in a confirmed manner.
The ministry prays for blessings for all
On this occasion the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs sends it utmost congratulations and blessings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the advent of the Holy Month, praying to the Almighty Allah for the return of the Holy Month on His Majesty for many years to come. It also congratulates the Omani people and the Islamic Ummah (Nation) on this blessed occasion.
