State Council reviews draft amendment of Traffic Law

Muscat: The Bureau of the State Council at a meeting held under the chairmanship  of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, chairman of the State Council, on Monday discussed various important reports submitted by the different panels of the Council.

The meeting was attended by members and the secretary general of the Council.

Mantheri welcomed the members and reviewed the agenda, which included a report regarding the implementation of decisions taken at the previous meeting.

Among the major issues discussed by the Council was the review of the "draft amendment of some provisions of the Traffic Law No. 28/93". This amendment was transferred by State Council to the Legal Committee to study it further for improvements, prior to its approval.

The meeting also evaluated the tenth regular session of the third annual session of the fifth period, which was held on June 24.

The Bureau of the Council also discussed the details of the report presented by the Economic Committee on its study, 'Laws Governing the Exploitation of the Mineral Sector in the Sultanate," to consider the adoption of its findings regarding re-organisation of this important sector.

What are these reports that are being reviewed ? What are the outcomes of the meeting ? How does this affect your average citizen ? What is Traffic Law No. 28/93 ?

The article is full of names and vague references and generic actions that really doesnt require to be mentioned in the "Times of Oman".

1. "The meeting was attended by members..."

2. "..welcome the members and reviewed the agenda."

3. "..which included a report regarding the implementation of decisions taken at the previous meeting."
and then the following paragraph
"The meeting discussed the report of the follow-up activities of the committees since the previous meeting."
