Muscat: As part of its annual charity work during Ramadan to spread a smile among the less privileged in Oman, the second leg of the 10th Nawras Goodwill Journey saw volunteers donating various household items, equipment, electronic gadgets and other materials in Al Amerat, Sur and Jaalan.
The convoy comprising a team of volunteer employees of Narwas, commenced the journey in Muscat on Sunday. It will further head south to Ibra, Haima and wind up in Salalah in a five-day voyage.
In Sur, the Nawras goodwill messengers distributed air conditioners, digital gadgets and other electrical and electronic appliances in keeping with this year's theme of 'Digital and Family', to the Sur women's organisation. At a late night event in Sur, nearly 100 children were delighted to receive toys and gifts.
While lauding the efforts of Nawras for donations, Zainab Al Mughairfi, president of Sur Women Association, told the Times of Oman that computers will be donated to the nurseries and schools so that the organisation can help children of the poorer sections of the society with their education. "Our theme this year is 'Digital and Family' which is about us connecting with our communities in a digital world," Kaltham Al Harrasi, a Nawras volunteer said, adding, "These digital gadgets will assist the charity organisation with the ongoing learning projects."
