Muscat: Due to the rush at the Muscat International Airport on the eve of forthcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays, aviation companies have urged passengers to start early from their homes so that they can report at the airport within the stipulated time.
Over the last couple of days, there has been a huge rush at the entrance and parking space at the departure terminal of the Muscat International Airport, which delayed the arrival of some of the passengers who had not left their home well in advance.
Keith Neto, GSA manager for IndiGo Airlines, Oman, told the Times of Oman that passengers should leave their homes early to make it to the airport in time. "It is much better to plan things well in advance and not to take risk and invite hassles, whenever and wherever one travels," he said.
"IndiGo airlines is fully prepared to serve its passengers at the airport and on board. So far there has not been any problem and would be none as the airport can accommodate ever bigger rush than what we have now," he added.
Amresh Choudhary, Country Manager of Air India, said that due to the rush these days, his aviation company has been opening its counters at the airport one hour earlier than usual so that it can serve those who reach early. But it is important that people should report at least two hours before the flight time, he said. Muscat airport is big enough to cater to an even larger number of passengers at a time.
Even the airport authorities have urged travellers to take taxis to the Muscat International Airport to ease the rush caused by insufficient parking lots.
"As there are only a limited number of parking lots available, we urge travellers to take public transport," airport authorities informed.
