Muscat: The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) hosted its annual Ramadan Quiz Night last week to raise awareness of its current research programmes and conservation initiatives.
Under the theme of 'How Food Waste Affects Our Environment', 35 people from a variety of professional backgrounds competed at the Al Bahja Hall in Qurum to win exciting prizes, learn about ESO's projects and what they can do to make a difference.
Suaad Al Harthi, ESO project manager, said, "This is a fun opportunity to learn more about wildlife in Oman and raise awareness on environmental issues during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
"This year, we challenged contestants to name plants and animals native to the Sultanate all the while showcasing how ESO contributes to the preservation and protection of the country.
"The most important message to take away from the evening was that we can all minimise our waste and limit our individual impact on natural habitats, ecosystems and the environment simply by making small changes in our daily lifestyle."
