Iran and Oman have called for international efforts to help end the tragic situation in Palestine and dispatch humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
In a telephonic conversation before Eid Al Fitr, Minister for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the international community should take action to help lift the Gaza blockade, the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network reported.
They also highlighted the necessity of continuing the consultations about the ongoing developments.
According to the report, the Omani foreign minister expressed the hope that the suffering of the Palestinian people would be alleviated through help from Muslim countries.
The Iranian foreign minister, on his part, condemned the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and said that the international community should pressure Israel into stopping the attacks against the 'defenceless people of Palestine' immediately.
He added that the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people, which include the lifting of the blockade, should be considered in any future ceasefire proposal.
He also noted that Iran is ready to send food and medicines as well as medical teams to the Gaza Strip and asked Egypt to help facilitate the process. Meanwhile, the head of UN agency for Palestinian refugees issued a furious denunciation of an Israel strike on one of its schools in Gaza which killed 16 people on Wednesday.
