Bank fraudsters, drug dealers arrested by Royal Oman Police

Two GCC nationals were arrested for bootlegging at the Hafit border post when they tried to enter the country. A total of 144 bottles were found hidden inside their vehicle's boot following inspection by the personnel at the custom department of the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
The accused were referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.
Drug peddlers held
Meanwhile, the drug enforcement department arrested six people on drug peddling charges in a number of areas of the wilayat of Buraimi.
Similarly, two people were arrested in Muscat governorate on drug peddling charges. The ROP seized a large quantity of narcotics, including 3,760 capsules of heroin weighing 29kg and 17 bundles of hashish weighing 18kg. These are record seizures, according to ROP officials. The accused were connected with an international gang of drug smugglers into the country. They have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial.
The ROP has foiled a bid to smuggle firecrackers through the Saa border post of the wilayat of Buraimi after the driver tried to cross the border post. A total of 530 firecrackers were seized, which the driver had concealed in the vehicle.
Two persons were arrested in the Muscat governorate after they tried to break into one of the commercial banks in Al Khuwair area of the wilayat of Bausher.
The two accused were caught while they tried to install devices and cameras inside the ATM machine in Al Khuwair.
They wanted to steal and copy the data of ATM cards of bank clients. The ROP also seized equipment and devices used for the crime from them.
Four people were arrested after they tried to enter the country illegally through Wad Jizi border post in the wilayat of Buraimi.
The two accused, who had no official documents, were found hiding in a vehicle.
The driver and his accomplice were also arrested for trying to smuggle in the two infiltrators.
