An Indian expatriate, who was on a visit visa to the Sultanate of Oman, died in a road accident near Jifinin late on Monday night, the victim's friends said.
The deceased was identified as Suresh from the south Indian state of Kerala. Two co-passengers, who suffered injuries in the accident, were admitted to two different hospitals.
"They were on their way to Fanja. The accident took place near Jifinin. It was a head-on collision. The expatriate died on the spot and two co-passengers suffered injuries," friends who are in touch with the police and hospital authorities told the Times of Oman.
One of the injured passengers is undergoing treatment at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and the other passenger, a woman, has been admitted to the Khoula Hospital in Muscat.
"We are coordinating with the embassy and police to repatriate the mortal remains as soon as possible. The health condition of the injured passengers are stable," the friends of accident victims added.
The expatriate was supposed to return to India as his visa was to expire in three days.
