Oman exports decline 7.9%

Muscat: The Sultanate's total merchandise exports showed a 7.9 per cent fall in the first quarter of 2014 at OMR5,143 million, from OMR5,582.6 million for the same period of last year.

The fall in exports was mainly due to a dip in oil and gas exports, which fell by 9.3 per cent OMR3,372.3 million in the first quarter ending March, according to monthly statistical bulletin released by National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) Wednesday.

However, non-oil exports showed a 23.4 per cent growth at OMR1,010 million from OMR818.2 million during the period.
