Muscat: The Embassy of the United States is participating in the annual Salalah Tourism Festival.  Greta C. Holtz, US ambassador to the Sultanate, inaugurated the US Embassy booth in a ceremony attended by Sheikh Salem bin Aufait Al Shanfari, Dhofar Municipality Chairman, and a number of officials from Dhofar Governorate. Open to the public till August 22, the embassy's booth serves as a showcase for the many educational and cultural programmes offered by the US Embassy.

In addition, the embassy's booth will highlight opportunities for higher education in the United States.  An EducationUSA Academic Advisor will provide materials and information to students and families about study in the United States.

Also, tourism, cultural, and educational materials about the United States will be distributed to the public during the festival. The embassy's participation this year features musical performances and an educational puppet show for children.

Commenting on the event, Ambassador Holtz praised the considerable efforts made by the Dhofar Municipality in organising the Salalah Tourist Festival.

Ambassador Holtz went on to say, "The US Embassy is proud to participate in this event for the fifth year in a row. The Salalah Festival provides an excellent opportunity for the embassy to reach out to visitors and introduce the various educational, cultural, and academic programmes offered by the embassy for Omanis through the Public Affairs Section."

Participation in the festival is part of the US Embassy's wide variety of cultural programming throughout Oman.
