Muscat: An Indian expatriate worker was found dead in his room in Bahla on Monday evening.
The victim has been identified by his friends as Siby, an automobile spare parts shop salesman, from the south Indian state of Kerala.
"He left the shop at around 1 pm and went to his room for lunch. He was supposed to return by 3 pm, but when he didn't turn up and did not answer his phone his sponsor went to the accommodation at around 4 pm to look for him. When they opened the door of his room, Siby was found hanging. Police was called immediately and the Indian embassy was informed.
Police rushed to the scene and moved the body to the hospital," his friends said.The 26-year-old was a bachelor.
"As of now, the body is at the Bahla hospital. The sponsor is coordinating with the Indian embassy to clear the papers required to repatriate the body," Siby's friends said.
Another Indian died in a road accident near Mussannah Tuesday early morning, social workers said.
The victim has been identified as Mohammed from the south Indian state of Kerala. "The victim was travelling in a delivery van when it overturned near Mussannah, killing him instantly. One of the co-passengers is struggling for his life in the hospital," Indian social workers, who are coordinating the repatriation of the body, said.
Mohammed was working at a shop in Mussanah. "The condition of the co-passenger is critical. He is battling for his life," the social workers added.
