Muscat: The Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat observed the 39th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman recently at the embassy premises with due solemnity and wide community participation.
The programme of the day included hoisting of the national flag at half-mast at the embassy.
The Holy Quran was recited by Maulana Abdul Salam at an event in the evening. A Doa Mahfil was attended by a large number of people from the community after Maghrib prayer.
'Father of the Nation'
A documentary film on the life of the 'Father of the Nation' of Bangladesh was also shown to the invitees. A message from the Bangladesh president was read out by Sheikh Sikender Ali, the Bangladesh ambassador. The prime minister's message was read out by counsellor Khurshid Alam Khastagir and the foreign minister's message by counsellor (labour) A.K.M Rabiul Islam.
An open discussion on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was also held. The programme was attended by many members of the community and conducted by the embassy's counsellor Khastagir.
