Muscat: The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has confirmed that Oman will be fielding teams in ten disciplines at the forthcoming Asian Games in South Korea.
According to a statement issued by the OOC, the Omanis will be seen in action in athletics, swimming, shooting, tennis, golf, sailing, football, handball, beach volleyball and hockey.
The 17th edition of the multisport continental sporting extravangaza takes place in the South Korean city of Incheon from September19 to October 4.
The OOC also informed that Oman football team have been placed in Group C along with Palestine,
Singapore and Tajikistan. The draw ceremonies of various sports took place in Incheon recently and was attended by Oman's chef de mission Kazim bin Mohammed Al Balushi.
The football competition is scheduled to begin on September 14, five days before the start of the Games.
Meanwhile, Oman handball team were drawn in Group C along with regional rivals Qatar and the UAE. The group also comprises China. The handball event will begin on September 20.
