Muscat: A tender for developing infrastructure facilities for Rusayl Industrial Estate expansion has been floated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE).
This is part of a massive expansion of the industrial estate for meeting the growing demand for industrial plots for entrepreneurs. The expansion, which is now being implemented in a phased manner, will take the total size of the industrial estate to seven million square meters. The expansion is a difficult task as mountainous areas have to be leveled to create industrial plots.
The last date for distributing tender documents is September 29, while the tender will be opened on October 27.
The Rusayl Industrial Estate, which houses around 160 units, is now 100 per cent occupied and there is an increasing demand for industrial plots from both existing industrial units (which plan expansion) and new entrepreneurs.
A wide range of industries, including food processing, mineral water, paint and cable manufacturers, have their manufacturing units there.
The whole plan is to dedicate a sizable 400,000 square metre area for logistics companies in Rusayl.
