Muscat: International telecommunications expert and entrepreneur Candace Johnson will be introduced by Nawras CEO Greg Young at the upcoming thought leadership forum .Open Minds.

Dubbed as 'one of the 50 most powerful businesswomen in Europe' by leading media houses, Candace Johnson is the co-initiator of the Astra satellite system and SES Global, the world's largest satellite systems.

The two-day forum to be held on September 3 and 4 at the Oman Auditorium of Al Bustan Palace Hotel (a Ritz Carlton Hotel) has already generated a lot of interest in the community.

Appreciating the concept of .Open Minds, Greg Young, Nawras CEO said, "Since my time here at Nawras, the raw talent of many young people in Oman has really struck me. This is something I want Nawras to support and nurture. I am aware of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's vision to create a sustainable future and I believe we can achieve this by helping and supporting the country's youth and Small and Medium Enterprises."

Young added, "Oman has a motivated and switched-on entrepreneurial culture. The '.Open Minds' event falls in line with this ethos as well as with our own aims for the country and I am looking forward to seeing the inspiration and spark that these ten global icons can provide."

The youth of Oman will be stimulated by a meeting with extraordinary minds such as entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, award-winning author Lord Jeffrey Archer and entrepreneur humanitarian Her Royal Highness Basmah bint Saud Al Saud, along with Omani scholar Sheikh Khalfan El Esry, mountaineer Tom Whittaker and entrepreneur Sahar Hashemi.

Satellady Candace Johnson, speed painter Brad Blaze, Lonely Planet founder Tony Wheeler and beat boxer Tom Thum make up the rest of the elite group.

The objective of .Open Minds is to synergise, motivate and educate (SME) young Omani entrepreneurs and the corporate sector. The event will be packed with "experience, knowledge, thoughts, positivity, inspiration, attitude, entertainment and presentation."

Black & White are the organisers of the forum. MPPH is the presenter. Bank Muscat, Nawras, AVOD (Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives), Ministry of Tourism, OAMC (Oman Airports Management Company), W J Towell Ajyal Mustaqbal and National Business Centre are the strategic partners.
