OAA set for Oman Motor Sports Festival

Muscat
: Oman Automobile Association (OAA) is all set to organise the Oman Motor Sports Festival at its premises on March 7-8.
Announcing the plans for the two-day event, Anwar Al Zedjali, vice-chairman of OAA said all preparations are underway for the success of the festival. "This is going to be a landmark for the association. This is for the first time we are organising all the major events under one umbrella," he said. The first round of the popular Oman Rally Championship will be held under the 'Oman Motor Sports Festival' banner along with first round final of Drifting Championship.
On Thursday, the first round of Oman Rally Super Stage will start at 3pm and will conclude at 5pm while the first round of Oman Drift round qualifications starts from 12pm till 2pm. "As part of the festival we will also have an exhibition of classic cars from 9am till 3pm," informed Sulaiman Al Rawahi of OAA.
The Remote Control Car stage will be held from 9pm till 5pm and the Oman Karting Track is opened to the public from 10am till 10pm.
According to Ahmad Al Zedjali, head of Oman Rally Championship, OAA is also looking into increasing the number of rounds this year. "We currently have five rounds but we are looking to have seven rounds this year," Ahmad said.
Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi of Ministry of Tourism and Khalid Al Balushi of OAA were also present.
