Muscat: The Oman edition of the Audi quattro Cup ended with plenty of action and a crowd-pleasing result when partners John and Shirley Prescott clinched the first place in the competition. The Audi quattro Cup is the world's premier series for amateur golfers. The 2013 round is the second tournament organised by Wattayah Motors in conjunction with the Oman Golf Committee.

During the prize-giving ceremony, Abdel Karim Awwad, national sales and marketing manager for Audi Oman, congratulated the winning duo on their outstanding achievement and thanked all the other participants in the tournament.

He commented, "On behalf of Wattayah Motors, it is my pleasure to congratulate the winning team for proving themselves as champion amateur golfers. The goal of the Audi quattro Cup is to help raise the profile of golf in Oman and to recognise the finest golfers in the Sultanate; and today, we have done just that. We wish John and Shirley Prescott the best of luck for the World Final at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles later this year."

The second edition of the event in Oman is part of the Audi Quattro Cup series. As the Sultanate pioneers a rapid investment in golfing facilities and in nurturing player talent, the Audi Quattro Cup offers the ideal platform for golfers to demonstrate their skills and competitive spirit. Audi Oman noted that it was proud to participate in this global event, which has attracted more than 1.3 million golfers in the last 22 years.

After winning the Muscat tournament, John and Shirley Prescott will proceed directly to the World Final at the Trump National Golf Club, Los Angeles, USA, which will run from October 7–11, 2013, where golfers from more than 50 different countries will compete for the title of overall Audi quattro Cup winner.

John Prescott remarked, "The Audi quattro Cup is a globally renowned amateur tournament. We were keen to participate, but it was such an achievement to actually win the tournament!"

Shirley Prescott added, "We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the tournament and are grateful to Audi Oman, Muscat Hills Golf and Country Club, and the Oman Golf Committee for organising this tournament. It raises the profile of the sport here. To be travelling to the World Finals in Los Angeles is a dream come true, and we're both stoked to be competing in this international tournament."

Audi's involvement in sporting events aims to support people in the pursuit of personal excellence and precision.
