Noel recovering; ROP launches manhunt

Muscat: Noel Sam Abraham is recovering and will be discharged from the hospital today (Tuesday), friends of his family said.

The Indian School Darsait class-X student had gone missing from the Wadi Kabir Lulu Hypermarket parking lot on Friday night and was later found early Sunday morning on a hill behind the same hypermarket.

"He is in a perfect condition now. The medical examinations show no major internal or external injuries on his body. We believe he will be discharged on Tuesday," Sam Abraham, a family friend, told Times of Oman.

Noel went missing from his family's car in the Wadi Kabir Lulu Hypermarket parking lot on Friday, where he had been sitting alone and preparing for his board examinations, while his parents and younger brother had gone shopping at the hypermarket. When his parents returned to the car at around 11 p.m., they discovered he was missing. A torn piece of his shirt and his scattered study materials indicated he had been forcibly removed from the car.
After police and family friends started a frenzied search for Noel, he was found abandoned and bound with ropes on a hill behind the hypermarket early on Sunday morning.

"Even though Noel will be discharged from the hospital, we have not yet decided whether he will sit for his board exams. We have to think about it," Sam added.

Meanwhile, the family friends noted that no clues had been found as yet to identify the culprits. "The police officials are seriously investigating the case. They have assured us that the case would be resolved soon," Sam noted.

Noel's disappearance was the second case in a week involving Indian school students. Last week, a 12-year-old girl escaped from the clutches of two abductors after they forcibly spirited her away in a bus to a dwelling in Wadi Kabir. The brave girl led the police to the two suspects, who are now in custody.
