The Career and Training Opportunities Fair aims to provide jobs and training opportunities to youth. –Supplied picture
Muscat:
Oman Arab Bank (OAB) participated in the Career and Training Opportunities Fair 2013, held from March 11 to 13 at the Grand Hall of the Cultural Centre at Sultan Qaboos University. The fair was organised by the public relations department of the career guidance centre at SQU. The opening ceremony was patronised by Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.
Fifty-eight organisations in the Sultanate and abroad participated in this fair. These organisations were selected according to specific rules and standards, depending on the number of jobs and training opportunities they intended to provide to graduates of the university, as well as the quality of such job opportunities.
The fair aimed to provide jobs and training opportunities for graduates. It also aimed to create a common ground for students and employers. Another objective of the fair was to inform students of the vacant jobs and training opportunities and to show them how to apply for such opportunities at the fair. Students also had the opportunity to gain insight into the work environment of the private sector through direct communication with employers.
OAB participated in the fair this year to recruit a group of students studying subjects related to the banking sector, such as programmes at the commerce and marketing colleges. OAB planned to train or employ them in the bank, as needed.
