Muscat: A hat-trick by Abdulaziz Al Maqbali gave Oman a boost to their preparations for the World Cup qualifier against Australia. Maqbali's valiant effort ensured Oman defeat Haiti 3-0 in a warm-up yesterday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Haiti, who had predictions of win in their favour before the match, found themselves at the receiving end with Maqbali firing from all cylinders. Coach Paul Le Guen must be a happy man by the way things have turned around for his team and will be hoping that his players deliver their best to keep the World Cup hopes alive. Oman will play a crucial qualifier against Australia on March 26 at Sydney and the Sultanate cannot look for anything less than a win. If Australia win on Tuesday and Group B leaders Japan defeat Jordan, Australia will move three points clear in second position.
