Muscat: The Legal Committee at the Majlis Al Shura held its meeting under the chairmanship of Said bin Ghanim Al Muqbali.
The Committee hosted the Director General of Commerce, the Head of Professional Licenses at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and a number of owners of accounting companies. They studied the draft law for extending validity of foreign accounting and auditing offices and companies operating as well as fulfilment of sabbatical conditions for Omani offices.
At the beginning of the meeting, the experts reviewed the required amendment in the License Validity Law granted to foreign offices of accounting and auditing or branches of foreign offices and companies issued by the Royal Decree No 53/96 and problems that require the government to amend the law.
The members discussed with the guests the amendment and the expected benefit, plans and strategies set at the concerned departments to apply the sabbatical conditions and proposed programmes to develop the Omani professionals in the field of accounting.
