HM Culture Award winners set to be declared

Muscat:
Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, Secretary General of Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science will announce the results of the first session of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Art and Literature.
These cultural awards were launched in March this year and include historical studies, drawing, oil painting and short story writing.
Earlier, the Centre hosted members of the jury consisting of academics, professionals and artists from within and outside the country and from different schools of thought and art. Each committee has submitted the final report and chosen the winner work of this valuable award in their respective categories.
The Award is an annual prize awarded alternately and periodically every two years, the first year for Omanis only and the second for Omanis and Arabs. The prize is awarded in the fields of culture, arts and literature for three winners one from each field.
Craft exhibition
The Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI) is organising an exhibition for craft industries at Al Qurum City Centre in the capital. The three-day exhibition comes as part of the Sultanate's celebrations of the 42nd Glorious National Day.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held under the patronage of Sayyid Said bin Ibrahim Al Busaidi, Deputy Governor of Muscat, who stressed upon the importance of preserving the Omani traditional legacies and art . The chief guest toured the exhibition, which included a number of Omani craft
industries.
