Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) has seized a record 11kg of heroin from three Asian suspects in northern Batinah as the authorities crack down on drug traffickers in the country.

The authorities recovered 1,463 capsules weighing around 11kg from the possession of the drug peddlers.

The three suspects were caught red-handed at a security checkpoint as they were trying to bring in the consignment into the industrial port town of Sohar on Tuesday. ROP has thanked citizens for their cooperation in fighting the menace.
