Muscat: The Tadhamun programme launched by Bank Muscat, targeted at beneficiaries from social welfare families, got off to a rousing start in the capital area.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to distribute household goods and appliances to beneficiary families is the anchor programme of the month-long social and cultural activities lined up by Bank Muscat to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Over the years, the Tadhamun programme has benefited numerous low-income beneficiaries in Oman. The initiative is a fine example of the public-private partnership launched by the bank in association with the Ministry of Social Development to spread the gift of a better life this Ramadan.
AbdulRazak Ali Issa, chief executive, Bank Muscat, said: "We are proud to launch Tadhamun programme which aims to support Omani families in these blessed days of Ramadan. The support will continue during the holy month to beneficiaries from social welfare families across the Sultanate who were identified by the Ministry of Social Development."
AbdulRazak Ali Issa added: "Tadhamun programme stems from the bank's commitment towards corporate social responsibility initiatives targeting specific segments within the society. Bank
Muscat supports these segments through cooperation with government bodies and NGOs. Over the years the bank has implemented several initiatives benefiting various segments of the society."
It is worth mentioning that Bank Muscat was the first Omani bank to establish a full-fledged CSR department. Considered among core values, the CSR policy stems from the bank's belief in the importance of social responsibility. It reflects the bank's concern and care for various segments of society.
Khamis Mahel Al Shahoumy from Seeb, who received Tadhamun support, thanked Bank Muscat for the initiative which he said would ensure a decent living for his family. "The bank's support to the less fortunate segments of the society is a big encouragement for us," Al Shahoumy said.
Miya Saif Al Touqi from Al Amerat said the Tadhamun support would make a big difference in improving the living conditions in her home.
"I thank Bank Muscat for this gesture which will help my family members enjoy a better Ramadan this year." The objective of the CSR initiative is to address the house- hold requirements of low-income beneficiaries. In the coming days, the bank will distribute essential appliances, including air-conditioner, refrigerator, deep freezer, cooking range and television to beneficiaries identified by the Ministry of Social Development.
Bank Muscat is a pioneer of CSR activities in the banking sector in Oman. Over the years the bank has implemented several initiatives benefiting various segments of the society. The Tadhamun programme underscores the bank's commitment to complement the government's efforts in social responsibility and thereby strength- en the underprivileged segments in society.
Reflecting the corporate ethos, the bank seizes every available opportunity to channel resources for creating sustainable, positive changes in communities by investing in their welfare to equip them for a better life.
