Items with traces of pork withdrawn

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources has issued a circular confirming the withdrawal of certain food products from Oman's markets.
These edible products have been found to contain traces of pork and horse meat, which is contrary to the approved standards for foodstuff in Oman.
The shops have been told to remove from their shelves such products, including those manufactured by Burger and Hot Pockets, Switzerland, as these contained traces of pork.
'Saucy Asado' products manufactured by Ulam King, Philippines, were found to contain horse meat and pork. 'Saucy Mechado' manufactured by the same company too was found to contain meat forbidden in Oman.
Products manufactured by Iceland Foods Ltd, Belgium, too contained horse and pig meat. 'Casino', a Geant's brand product from France has also been banned for containing banned meat items. The 'Fatburger' restaurant company product from Bahrain was also banned for containing horse meat.
'Ligo' from Philippines had traces of horse meat. Pure Food and 555 company, Philippines were also charged with selling horse meat products. Farm Company from Philippines also faced similar charges. Products of Argentina Company, 'Hot and Spicy Corne' from Codo Company and 'Bistek Style Corne Norate', all from Philippines were also banned for dealing in horse meat.
Sausage Rolls product of Mama's Company, South Africa, were also found to contain horse meat.
This circular has called upon all municipalities nationwide to seize the above mentioned products from the market and destroy them.
It also asked them to conduct more surveys to detect similar products which are not mentioned in the circular.

With reference to the news article posted by Times of Oman News Service dated 20/08/2013 (9:09 am) entitled ITEMS WITH TRACES OF PORK WITHDRAWN, I am sorry to say that Pork Meat is not only available in Mars (Al Khuwair) but in some Filipino market as well. Strange for me.........how one can sell Pork meat in a country like Oman..................

Im glad to see the govnt is checking food, but I wish they would also penalize supermarkets that dont transport and store frozen food properly. (Some foods are only available frozen here.) Ever buy one of those expensive bags of Waitrose frozen organic vegetables from Al Fair and then discover the veggies are discolored and spoiled when you open it?! What a waste!
