Muscat: Directorate general of Muscat Municipality in Qurayyat is seeking an expansion for the main road in Al Mazare Town, which links it with other towns including Al Ghubairah, Al Jazeer, Al Hisn, Al Qaryah and Munsfat. The current road is a single carriageway, which many motorists in the area are finding inconvenient to travel.
Sayyid Ahmed Bin Hilal Al Bousaidi, Wali of Qurayyat, said in a statement that the municipality is actively cooperating with the agriculture department of Qurayyat as well as the farm owners of the area to start the roadworks and ensure minimum inconvenience.
Explaining the development project, the first stage will involve the extension of road link, which connects Al Ghubairah town to Wadi Dayqah Dam. The second stage will seek the expansion of roads that connect Al Malawas, Al Jazeer, Al Hisn, Al Qaryah, Munsfat and Al Dhahir with Wadi Dayqah Dam. The road will also be expanded to connect neighbouring towns including Alyaa, Fiq and Wadi Arbayeen.
The total area affected by the first stage of expansion project is around 62,773 sq. mtr and whereas the second stage will affect 57,311 sq. mtr. Muscat Municipality statement said that compensation has been made to the farms owners who have been affected by the road expansion project.
