Muscat: In order to remain abreast with the current International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) changes that are expected to have a significant impact on financial reporting, Deloitte will be hosting a seminar on IFRS update titled 'IFRS Update and IFRS for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)'.
The seminar will be take place at Grand Hyatt Hotel on September 8. It aims to provide an overview of the current IFRS environment, key changes to standards applicable for the current financial year and standards issued and applicable in future periods with an early adoption option.
"We believe this seminar will provide a platform for the accounting fraternity to collectively discuss and arrive at reasonable conclusions on complex accounting issues" said Alfred Strolla, managing partner.
"In the past couple of years, there have been significant changes to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including changes to existing standards and issuance of new ones. These changes have, and will have, a significant impact on companies of various sizes and in various industries. Our IFRS experts from the regional and global team will be deliberating on the forthcoming major changes that are expected to have substantial impact on the financial reporting for future periods. In line with the Omani government initiative to support SMEs in the country, our global SME experts will conduct a special session on IFRS for SMEs," he added.
A series of Deloitte IFRS seminars will be hosted by the firm in other countries.
