Salalah: Bank Muscat has extended major support to the Dhofar camel milking competition being held as part of the Salalah Tourism Festival. Thoroughbred and crossbred Arabian camels are participating in the popular competition, which concludes today.
The event focuses on camel livestock as part of the Arab natural wealth and encourages people to transform livestock sectors to benefit the society.
The competition also aims at raising awareness and educating camel owners on aspects linked to preservation of pasture lands and prevention of desertification.
Speaking of the festival, Yasir Salim Tabook, Regional Manager – Dhofar, said: "The support to the event comes within the bank's strategy to promote and preserve the country's traditions, heritage and culture. The livestock wealth is of economic importance and effective methods are required to boost camel productivity. "
