Muscat: The decision that expatriates wanting to bring in their families to Oman must be drawing a salary of OMR600 per month came as a directive from the Ministers' Council, an official from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) told the Times of Oman.
The official added that the directive seeks to reduce the expatriate manpower in the country. The new decision, however, will not apply to those who already have family visas to come to Oman. The gross salary will now be OMR600 for those bringing in their family members to Oman. Earlier, this amount was OMR200.
Further, family visas will no longer be eligible to be converted into job visas, a step aimed at creating more job opportunities for nationals as well as combating crime, the official added.
