Rains flood wadis in interiors

A few wadis in Sohar, Saham, Ibri, Izki and Nizwa were overflowing due to heavy rains disrupting the traffic movement, yesterday.
"The rain which started at around 1pm, lasted till 3pm in different parts of Sohar and surrounding areas. Some of the wadis in Sohar, Saham, Ibri, Izki and Nizwa were overflowing. Traffic movement was disrupted but no untoward incidents were reported," said Bader Ali Al Baddaei, one of the administrators of www.rthmc.net, a local web-based forum that discusses weather trends in Oman.
Meanwhile, meteorological department's weather forecast for the next 48 hours reported that there are chances of convective cloud developments and thundershowers over Al Hajar mountains and adjoining areas towards afternoon. The forecast also added that there are chances of early morning low clouds or fog patches along the coastal areas of southeastern coast and the mountain of Dhofar governorate.
The report also added that along the coastal areas of Oman, sea winds will be easterly to northeasterly light to moderate during the day becoming variably light at night and over the rest of the Sultanate winds will be southeasterly light to moderate.
