Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education has suspended new admissions and scholarships for the current academic session for both the International College of Engineering and Management, and Gulf College. This step was taken by the ministry as part of its drive to monitor the performance of private higher education institutions, as well as their facilities.
The action by the ministry follows charges levelled against both the institutions, claiming they lacked appropriate facilities and infrastructure.
The ministry's decision has resulted in the suspension of internal scholarships and registration of new students beginning with the 2013/2014 academic year and will continue until further notice for the International College of Engineering and Management.
However, the ministry's restrictions, beginning in November, are temporary and will be lifted once these institutions provide proper facilities.
