Muscat: Entry forms for the 17th edition of the Times of Oman Open Quiz Contest (TOOOQC) to be held on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the City Amphitheatre in Qurum are now available.
Those interested can register to participate in the TOOOQC by filling in the entry form published in the Times of Oman. Alternatively, they can register online by visiting www.timesofoman.com.
"Teams can register physically or do so online," informed a Times of Oman spokesperson.
"We didn't want to deny any prospective participants the option of submitting their forms, and hence provided for online registration. In this tech savvy world, offering this option was a priority for us," he added. "This will also help participants for the TOOOQC coming from places as far as Salalah, Sohar and Nizwa," the spokesperson said.
The entry forms for the contest will be available in the Times of Oman newspaper where these will be published till the last day of submission, which is October 24, 2013.
The entry form should be returned duly filled in, affixed with a recent passport size photograph and submitted along with the entry fee of OMR9 to Prasanna at the Times of Oman, Advertising & Marketing office (third Floor, Trade Centre Building, near Atlas Hospital, Ruwi) during any working day between 8am and 5pm.
Teams from companies, clubs, schools, colleges, families or even a group of any three individuals can participate. That each team must comprise three participants is mandatory.
Stage one would be the written prelims from among whom the eight finalist teams will be short listed. The written preliminary will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
All the teams will be given answer scripts, and will have to answer the same set of questions. Audio/video questions will be included. Results will be tabulated in about 30 minutes and the top 8 teams will be selected as finalists. In case of a tie, scores in the in-built tie breaker questions will be considered. The quizmaster's decision will be final and binding.
The finals will be fought among the top eight teams. Each team is allowed to make one substitution. The name of the reserve has to be mentioned in the entry form. A substitution cannot be made when the quiz is in progress.
Quizmaster Giri 'Pickbrain' Balasubramaniam says, "There is a famous saying that success is a science and if you have the required conditions, you get the result. I guess at the Times of Oman Open Quiz Contest, this is so true and it is now time for the teams to build their capabilities to have the right conditions at the quiz."
