Muscat: Notwithstanding reports of some attacks on Omanis in Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat has stated that the embassy did not have any relevant information to comment on in this regard. "Nevertheless, there are no media reports indicating that there are any groups behind the incident," a senior official of Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat said, in a written statement mailed to the Times of Oman.

However, the Thai police have identified the attacker from the CCTV footage recorded in the area and have issued an arrest warrant against him. The Omani tourist is now recovering from his injuries in a hospital in Bangkok and the police have intensified the hunt for the suspect.
