Muscat: Recent statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Data inform that the inflation rate in the Sultanate during October this year was 3.2%.
The consumer price index data shows that the index rose by .7% compared to September 2012. This is attributed to the rise of the education services group price by 2.1%, personal commodities and other services group by 1.3%, culture and recreational services and the medical services by .9% and .4% respectively. House rent, electricity, water and fuel rose by .3%.
On the contrary, the foodstuffs, beverage and tobacco group declined by .4%, transport and communications slid by .2%, furniture and house utensils, ready-made clothes, textiles and shoes by .1% each. Al Batinah North Governorate inflation rose by 1.8% followed by Muscat Governorate .8% and Dhofar Governorate .7%. Dhahirah, Buraimi, North Al Batinah and South A'Sharqiyah recorded a decline by .2%, .1% and .1% respectively.
