His Highness Sayyid Al Rawy Kais Al Said, who was the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony, gave away the prizes to the winners.
Earlier, speaking to the Times Sport, Ray Stopforth, director of golf at the Muscat Hills, said the tournament will now be held annually. "We have got good feedbacks about the event and everyone wants us to host it next year. So this is going to be an annual event," Ray noted. The tournament was fully subscribed within five days of the entry forms going out to the members and the visitors, which tells us that golfers in Oman are tournament hungry and are looking for serious competitions," Ray noted.
"Over 130 entries were received but we had to cut the field back to 108 players as the first 18 holes is a shot gun start," Ray pointed out.
For the first time, the game was played over 27 holes on the same day. "Half the field was cut after 18 holes and the remaining players who made the cut played play-off over another 9 holes and that was how we determined the winner," he added. Over 250 people attended the banquet dinner and the award ceremony that was held later in the evening. The title sponsor, Bank of Beirut, supported the event along with associate sponsor, Audi.
