Muscat: Wellness icon VLCC is taking giant strides. The company would soon open more centres in the Middle East and South Asia.
"We are expanding our operations to Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar. We have already participated up to the due diligence stage for acquisition of two leading national players in the wellness domain in South East Asia, and will be in a position to make a formal announcement about the same in the coming month. Simultaneously, we are also currently evaluating three other target companies in other geographies,'' VLCC's Chairman Mukesh Luthra said.
At present, VLCC is operating in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. One of the leading players in the wellness domain in Middle East and South Asia, VLCC began its journey less than a quarter of a century ago with a Transformation Centre in New Delhi, India at a time when the Indian wellness market was still at a nascent stage and the idea of combing fitness and beauty as an approach to holistic wellness was a completely new paradigm.
"VLCC is also in the process of setting up a manufacturing facility in Bangladesh, where our personal care products are finding a ready market. This will be our third manufacturing facility after the two already operating in Haridwar and Dehradun in India. Further, plans are already in place to establish the second overseas manufacturing facility in either UAE or Bahrain to cater to the fast growing demand for our VLCC personal care line of products in the Middle East," Luthra added.
VLCC seamlessly married the scientific weight management programmes with revolutionary skin and hair care treatments. The reputation of VLCC as the leading slimming, beauty, and fitness brand has been built upon its tried and tested, highly effective and safe, scientifically designed lifestyle modifying weight management solutions and the highly specialised therapeutic approach of its beauty services.
Not the one to sit on its laurels, the company is steaming ahead with several new initiatives and the knowledge that its programmes and processes are all supported by certifications from the world's most leading bodies. VLCC is the world's first slimming, fitness and beauty corporate to get the ISO 9001:2000 quality certification. It is also the first company of its kind in the world to get the SA:8000 (Social Accountability) certification for implementing global corporate social responsibility standards.
The VLCC Group has also been awarded the ISO:14001 certification for meeting global environment safety norms, again a world's first for an organisation of its kind. Another key achievement this year has been that VLCC has received the prestigious NABH (National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, India) certification. Meeting the stringent standards of NABH is a clear reaffirmation of the fact that VLCC's systems and processes as well as service delivery and efficacy standards are today the best in class, at par with global benchmarks.
In the process of building VLCC into a powerful brand, Vandana Luthra has been recognised for outstanding stewardship and has been felicitated in dozens of forums. This year Vandana was awarded the 'Powerbrands Hall of Fame Inspirational Leader – Beauty and Wellness'. Fortune magazine listed her amongst the 50 most powerful women in India in 2011.
She also received Asia-Pacific's most prestigious award for entrepreneurs, the Enterprise Asia Women Entrepreneur of the Year 2010 Award. She was featured as an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2009. In 2008, Vandana was announced as one of the top eight business women in the Middle East for the prolific expansion of her business in the region.
VLCC has grown steadily over the years and is planning to spread its wings across the world.
