Omantel snapshot contest showcases 4G network quality

Muscat: Omantel handed over the winner's award to Mahmoud Hilal Al Sulaimani, who got more than 10,000 "likes" for his snapshots captured for the 4G network that provides 24.16 MB speed.

The turnout for the 4G LTE contest, which was launched through Twitter and Instagram last June, has been great, as evidenced by the large number of participations and tweets by subscribers.

The speed of data downloading from mobile internet amounted to 82.95 MB.

Commenting on the contest, Huda bint Said Al Ghabshi, acting social media manager at Omantel, said, "The contest provided a good opportunity for subscribers to test the high speed provided by the first 4G LTE network in the Sultanate. By sharing the captured speeds through two social media platforms, the public to learnt about first-hand tests done by customers".

The captured images were shared on Twitter and Instagram and winners were divided into two categories, those with most "liked" and re-tweeted picture, and the second one with the highest speed captures.

The first winner with the most "liked" and re-tweeted picture bagged a fully-paid trip for two persons to the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix in November 2013, whereas those winning the next five positions, from second to the sixth, were awarded Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE
smartphones.

Abdul Raheem bin Abdullah al Balushi who received 5,904 "likes" on Instagram came second; Talal bin Abdullah Al Balushi, who captured 2,742 "likes" on Instagram, came third; Hawraa Salem al Fahdi, who captured 1,829 "likes" on Instagram, came fourth; and Mohammed Ahmed Sameer, who captured 115 retweets, came fifth. They all received Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE smartphones.

In the second category of those with highest speed captures, Abdullah Eisa Al Balushi came first with 82.95 MB downloading speed. He received Z LTE Sony Experia tablet. In the same competition, Ali Hassan Al Majini came second, Radhyah Khalfan Al Shamsi came third and Bashar Mohammed Al Baram came fourth. They were all presented with 4G MiFI modems.
