Muscat: Oman Professinal League club Al Nahda and Muscat booked 1st division side Muscat booked their places in the quarterfinals of His Majesty's Cup Football Championship yesterday.
In the first match of the double header at Ibri Sports Complex, Al Nahda edged Al Musannah 3-1 to reach the last eight stage.
In the second match, Muscat, who are languishing in the second half of the table in the 1st division league, defeated Al Rustaq by a 2-1 margin.
On Thursday, Dhofar and Fanja, both of whom are looking for a record ninth title, eased into the last eight stage.
Salalah giants Dhofar, playing in front of their home supporters, thrashed Al Shabab 4-0 in a one-sided match.
Fanja, who won last of their eight titles way back in 1991, routed Al Wuhda 6-1 at Sur Sports Complex.
The last 16 stage concludes today with two matches scheduled to be played in Salalah and Muscat. In Salalah, Sohar will be squaring off against Al Ittihad while Al Mudhaibi will meet Bausher at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
