National Defence College inaugurated

Muscat: The Ministry of Defence and the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) yesterday held a function to mark the official opening of the National Defence College (NDC) under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan.

Sayyid Shihab was received by Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Lt.Gen Ahmed bin Harith Al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff, Chairman of the NDC Board and Maj. Gen Salim bin Musallam Qattan, Commandant of NDC.

Sayyid Shihab explained that the NDC has been set up as per the Royal Directives of His Majesty the Sultan, to be a centre for the strategic defence, security and political studies.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence and the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) yesterday organised several ceremonies in commemoration of the Armed Forces Day. A  function was organised at the SAF Training Battalion under the patronage of Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Radio and Television (PART).

A show of equestrian skills performed by the  Sultan of Oman's Artillery was presented.

An exhibition displaying weapons, as well as photographs that narrate the history of RAO, was also organised.
