MUSCAT: Deliberations of the first Oman Tourism Investment Conference will kick-off at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel today (Sunday) under the patronage of Sayyid Taimour bin Asa'ad bin Tariq al-Said, Assistant Secretary-General for International Cooperation at the Research Council.
The two-day conference will be organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in conjunction with the Federation of the GCC Chambers of Commerce (FGCCC).
The conference will highlight the tourism potentials in the Sultanate and the investment atmosphere in the tourism sector, as well as highlighting the tourism as an industry that can rise the GDP of any country in light of the countries' keenness to diversify the sources of income and relying on the services sector to come up with revenues.
The first day of the conference will include two working sessions as the first one will present four working papers under the themes of the Strategic Vision to Avail Sustainable Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman, How to Come up with Tourism Investment Generation, the Factors that Influence the Students Initiatives in Tourism & Role of the Training Programmes in Qualifying the Outputs for the Need of the Tourism Labour Market and the Status of the Tourism Potentials in the Sultanate of Oman to be presented by OCCI.
The second session will include three working papers under the themes of Insuring the Tourism Investment, the Latest e-Marketing Methods for Tourism and the Outcomes of the Study on Promoting Tourism in Member States of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to be presented by the Tourism Organisation of IORA.
A number of governmental institutions and authorities, private sector institutions, businessmen and businesswomen from the Sultanate of Oman, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab and Foreign counties will take part in the conference.
